10-Year Papers | 2-Year Papers

The most dominant theme by far among the two-year papers is the importance of factor H-binding protein in meningitis: 25% of the two-year list deals with this subject. Research into the serogroup C vaccine is still a prevalent theme as well. Additional vaccines getting citation attention include the PCV7 vaccine against pneumococcal meningitis in French children and the tetravalent meningococcal glycoconjugate vaccine for infants.

Other notable papers cover such areas as treatment, epidemiology, and outcomes of cryptococcal meningitis in patients with HIV/AIDS, human parechoviruses as a viral cause of meningitis and sepsis, and using whole genome studies to understand the virulence evolution of Neisseria meningitidis.

About the 2-year Paper List:

The baseline time span for this database is 2000-May 7, 2010 (second bimonthly period 2010). The resulting database contained 14,899 (10 years) and 3,817 (2 years) papers. To construct the top 20 papers lists for the past decade and the past two years, the papers were further narrowed down by the title keywords "meningit*" OR "meningoc*." This adjustment resulted in the top 20 papers being selected from a pool of 5,346 (10 years) and 1,307 (2 years) papers.
