Between 2003 and 2007, Thomson Reuters indexed 43,390 papers that listed at least one author address in Denmark. Of those papers, Denmark's highest percentage appeared in journals classified under the heading of biology & biochemistry. In that field, as the right-hand column indicates, the citations-per-paper average for papers from Denmark exceeded the world average by 20% (9.20 cites per paper for Denmark, versus a world baseline of 7.68 citations). The nation's relative-impact performance was also notably strong in physics (64% above the world mark), materials science (60% above), engineering (+58%), and agricultural sciences (+56%).
